The PSA celebrated a milestone for inclusion of 90 million citizens onto the National ID System, opening up daycare facilities as more registration centres and sending personnel to register more residents in isolated areas.
PSA personnel registered a record count of people for national ID face-to-face.
They achieved close to the intended target of 92 million registrations, enabling social and digital inclusion to use IDs for everyday services. Through the scheme, access to social benefits and services could significantly enhance their everyday lives.
“As we reach the last mile of registration, we will continue our pursuit to make National ID registration easy and accessible for all and make the National ID the top-of-mind valid proof of identity for Filipinos”, said PSA Undersecretary Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, National Statistician and Civil Registrar General.
With the focus currently on registering 1 to 4 year-olds, the process taking place across daycare facilities gives convenience and entertainment for families whilst the necessary documentation and data is being submitted for the scheme. The PSA launched the Rehistro Bulilit campaign, which opened childcare facilities as additional registration hubs for people to get their data collected.
In Pangasinan, the PSA conducted house-to-house registration and enquired if isolated residents wanted to join the national ID programme. Whilst digitalised processes save standard struggles to get whole populations issued with IDs, the PSA’s work to go into the heart of communities kept services accessible to everyone, from senior to disabled citizens to students.
In geographically-isolated and disadvantaged areas, mobile registration was also an option to reduce social divides.
The PSA also partnered with various institutions to make National ID services such as registration, convenient and accessible.
