Philippines Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman Andres Bautista has warned that some five million voters still have not enrolled their biometric details with just five months left until a deadline.Bautista said that voters who have no biometrics data by the deadline of October 31, 2015 will have their names deactivated from the list ahead of a May 2016 election.”May we remind our citizens that this elections is different because if you do not have your biometrics taken, you will not be allowed to vote,” he said.Voters can go to their local Comelec office to enlist or have their photograph, fingerprint, and signature data taken. In February, Comelec said it was seeking entrants for a US$16.5 million biometric voter verification leasing contract for the general election. Comelec wants a verification system that includes 23,000 voter verification units (VVS), 4,000 polling centre technicians and 135 technicians for national support.
