In a complete U-turn from the OEM's previous strategy, Motorola is set to add fingerprint sensors to all its new devices to be launched this year.Chen Xudong, SVP of Lenovo and president for Lenovo China and Asia Pacific, confirmed the strategic move in an interview with Tech Sina.In 2015, Motorola launched various phones including the Moto X family. While all were well received by critics, none included biometric security. The OEM has won plaudits for offering the 'best cheap phone'.Speaking on the Moto X Pure Edition to The Telegraph last August, former Motorola CEO Dennis Woodside said it was supposed to host a rear-mounted sensor but: “Apple bought the best supplier. So the second best supplier was the only one available to everyone else in the industry, and they weren't there yet.”Ironically the dimple created by the absence of a sensor was praised as a user-friendly design function.In the last 12 months, manufacturers including Samsung, HTC, Sony, and Huawei have all integrated sensors.
