The International Border Management and Technologies Association (IBMATA) today announced that BioRugged, the international specialist for mobile and rugged biometric devices, has joined the association as a corporate member.

“IBMATA provides an excellent forum to get direct input from experts and policy makers.”, says Arnd Langguth, CEO of BioRugged. “Gathering the exact needs and detailed procedures of usage is the first step in our product development process. Our products are sold by system integrators worldwide, therefor it is important to us to have the access to the end users through IBMATA on a non-commercial basis. Any product for the Border Control market will be first and foremost benchmarked by the ease-of-use for the officer under a wide range of usage scenarios.”

The not-for-profit organization IBMATA brings together experts, practitioners, academics, policy makers and technology providers. Its internationally recognized summits in Brussels and Singapore review and analyze the latest requirements and challenges in the border control market and how technologies can help to address those.

“We are delighted to welcome BioRugged to the IBMATA family” said Tony Smith CBE, chairman of IBMATA and former Director General of the UK Border Force. “Border Force Officers are constantly adapting to new risks and issues, and it is important that the private sector and the public sector work together at both national and international level to support them in their mission. Biorugged brings specific mobile and biometric capabilities to border control, which are increasingly relevant in the world of modern day border management strategies.”
