Egyptian Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has inaugurated biometric passport gates at Terminal 3 in Cairo International Airport.The inauguration of the facial recognition gates was attended by Minister of Civil Aviation, Hossam Kamal, and Chief Executive Officer of the Holding Company for Airports and Aviation, Mahmoud Essmat.The new ePassport gates rely on facial recognition to verify a passenger's details against ePassport data – the government has not yet revealed which vendor was used.In 2008, Cairo airport also saw a fingerprint-enabled ePassport system installed.
