The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) within the US Department of Defense has ordered 1,200 Tactivo smart card readers from biometrics firm Precise Biometrics. The 1.1 million SEK (US$133,552) order of the biometric smart card readers for iOS and Android devices, will boost second quarter revenues for the Swedish company.The solution being provided to the DLA is based on the existing Common Access Card (CAC) infrastructure and adds to the overall usability of the long standing smart card system, PB said in a statement.”We are pleased to see that DLA are following up on their previous order from December. This shows their confidence and commitment to Tactivo for convenient and secure mobile access to information systems and resources. The solution increases employee flexibility and efficiency, while ensuring a high level of security by utilizing two-factor authentication”, says Håkan Persson, CEO of Precise Biometrics.In late April, Precise Biometrics revealed that their country's national healthcare system will use Tactivo to authenticate users of Pascal, a prescription tool for dose packaged medicals used by nurses, doctors and midwives.The Tactivo biometric device case will secure access to the prescription tool when accessed from iPhones or iPads using a SITHS-card login, an identification card for Swedish care professionals.
